on the Smith!
I would like to thank everyone that came up
and fished the Klamath with me this year. I've enjoyed every
moment of this season and hope to see everyone return next
year. The last few days my buddy and I went down to the
mouth of the smith. There was about 30 to 40 people fishing
off the bank. They were catching a few fish that were
pretty good size. With this rain the last few days and
expected rain. smith should be fishing pretty good. We've
been waiting for these rains to bring the flow up. Look for
the chetco and the smith to be the hotspots

With a late start today and nobody on
the water my buddy‘s and I started up river fishing.
The weather has been cold and the morning fog has been
nice. The fishing has been tough, although we are still
catching some fish which are bigger. The last two days the
fish I been catching have been fresh chrome fish. Which
means there’s still fish coming in? Today we landed
5 salmon biggest being 30 plus and a couple 20lb
fish. I still have one more week here on the Klamath.

These last two days of fishing I really enjoyed being on the
boat. I was able to fish with John
and Joe will of Santa Maria. It was great to see the
kids enjoy fishing with their dad’s. It really reminded me
of when I was younger fishing. With no pressure and all of
us having a good time we were able to land a few fish
the last two day’s. Our biggest being 30 plus. As my season
comes to a end if anyone is interested give me a call.

many boats on the ramp. We started fishing on the lower
river. The bite for me was slow in the morning after about
an hour of pounding the hole I hooked 7 fish in row. Most of
the fish were small adults and jacks. The boat pressure is
low which helps out the bite. I will continue to fish here
on the Klamath the next few weeks. If interested give me

first. I didn’t see much fish caught today. I made the
decision to shoot straight up as far as I could go . There
wasn’t much fish biting up there. I see them jumping and
rolling but not many biters. The next few days the nets will
be out of the water. We should see some fish in the next few

The American fishing
foundation held a derby Friday and Saturday here on the
Klamath river. It was a weekend of excitement. It all
started Thursday afternoon at check ins. Teams consists of
local business and fisherman. The purpose of the derby was
to help Roy rook boat docks and facility up grades. This
effort shall re-establish the annual installation of the
floating boat dock facility. It shall also provide funds
required to maintence the dock. It also helps the Klamath
River yearly program. Providing fish food for the young
Chinook at Iron Gate hatchery. As far as the derby, the
first day of fishing was tough all the guides work hard for
their fish. The Average was 3-6 fish with the high boat of
9. After the first day the boat in first place was Frank
Duarte. However the second day of fishing was great every
boat was catching fish averaging 10 -15 first which made it
interesting in the standings. Frank Townly won the derby
follow by Joe Whaley and ken Armstrong. Fishing should
continue to get better as the season goes on. . If you’ve

blessing this morning. There was many fish being caught
today. I had a group of friends from Redding and
McKinleyville with help from Kenny. There's was action all
day we ended up hooking over 30 fish. We had a 20 lb salmon
and a 10lb steelhead. This was the first push of fish and
you should expect to see the fishing turn wide open from
here on out. I have dates available over the next
month so call and book your trip while dates are still
available.

Steelhead & Salmon are Here!
Today’s fishing
was pretty much the same as yesterday.
I haven’t had to travel far to
catch fish. It seems there holding in the lower riffles.
If
you’re interested in fly fishing this would be a good time
to come up and try it out.

Today’s fishing was good. It seems that a run of half
pounders have come through with a mix of small salmon. I
haven’t seen this many half pounders in awhile which is
nice. There was a little more boat pressure today. The bank
fisherman have been getting there share to. Catching fish on
Cleo’s, glow bugs and bait as while.
